🔢 The 7 Stations

Walk slowly from station to station and compare the feelings!

🟡
1
Sand
Warm, dry and soft

Fine dry sand that creeps between your toes. After sunshine it feels wonderfully warm! Wiggle your toes and feel the sand move.

💡 Sand is made of tiny pieces of rock and shell — sometimes millions of years old!
🟤
2
Clay
Smooth, cool and sticky

Clay feels smooth and cool, very different from sand. Your feet leave a perfect imprint! Clay is a bit sticky and clings to your feet.

💡 Humans have used clay for thousands of years to make houses and pots!
🟢
3
Grass
Tickly and springy

Fresh green grass tickles beautifully! The blades spring back under your feet. On a warm day, shaded grass feels wonderfully cool.

💡 Grass grows from the bottom up, not the top — that is why it keeps growing when mowed!
🪵
4
Wood chips
Soft, uneven and fragrant

Wood chips are softer than they look! They smell wonderfully of fresh wood. Every step feels different due to the irregular shapes.

💡 Wood chips come from pruned wood from our own trees and hedges!
5
Wool
Soft, fluffy and warm

Real wool from our sheep — so soft! Wool feels both soft and slightly prickly. It retains warmth even when slightly damp.

💡 Wollie and the other sheep are shorn every spring. The wool just grows back!
🪨
6
Gravel
Hard, pointy and massaging

Gravel feels exciting — a little uncomfortable but also massaging! The rounded pebbles massage the soles of your feet. Step slowly for the best feeling.

💡 Walking on gravel is a kind of foot massage with benefits for your whole body!
🌿
7
Moss
Super soft and spongy

Moss is the softest of all! It feels like a green carpet and is slightly spongy. When damp it feels extra cool and fresh.

💡 Moss has no roots — it absorbs water through its leaves, just like a sponge!
